Making visuals that speak, attract and educate the audience of this book explaining the culture of Queer community of India.

I was approached by Ashwin Gupta to work on a student team (Ashwin, Zarna and Sanjana) to create this illustrations. The theme was vibrant and I selected a color scheme and textures that were to speak to the context of the book. An educational book meant for adults that tells us about the queer community of India and its history going back to the title of the book 'The Kyu/Q' - a book that adresses the the history of the queer "Q" community in India.

Homosexuality and queerness has been a part of the Indian society right from the time of gods and goddesses. Through the book, we question the blocks we have towards this community- we, who worship Shiva and glamorise the Mughals, unaware of how history is erased and rewritten to wipe out the truth about this community
